Recently I discoverd Marlin''s xl7 centerfire bolt action. I know they haven''t had much luck in the past with these but It was inexpensive so I gave it a shot. It was lightweight so it was easy to manage and the adjustable trigger let me lower the force of the pull so I could concentrate more on where I was aiming than trying to fire. That action works smoothly and I never had a problem with jamming or misfiring. I think Marlin has a bolt-action they can be proud of.

I purchased this rifle a 30.06 for $279.00 at cabelas. I put a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40 BDC on it to go hunting for my first time. Super clear scope even on a foggy day. I just sighted in this combo with a box of federal soft points 150gr for $17 bucks or so. Wow i was able to easily shoot consistant 100yd bulls eye with no effort. The trigger is a type of acutrigger and is super sweet from the factory and can still be adjusted down if wanted. I love the fit and feel of the recoil pad and the positon of the safety. This is my first rifle, but my friend who helped me sight it in was very very impressed with how it performed. He has many high dollar rifles and scopes and was shocked with it''s perfromance. I also hit within the 9 ring on a 200yd shot on a windy day. I am very satisfied with my purchase, and will probably pass this rifle on to my kids because i''ll never get rid of it. Wonderful rifle for the price

For the price, this rifle is WICKED awesome! Only needed very minor adjustments to the scope due to shipping but other than that, everything is great. I''''m very impressed with the quality and solidarity of this rifle. Matches rifles worth even twice as much. :D

i bought mine a year ago. it had a couple of minor ''flaws'' with barrel/stock contact and oil-filled scope mounting holes initially affecting accuracy along with the plastic trigger guard that''s easily broken. ok...four & one-half stars.
i broke the guard while putting the barreled action back into the stock after my initial, thorough cleaning job. rectified the trigger guard problem with an anodized aluminum one that marlin makes for one of their .22cal rifles at the cost of $11.00. as for the accuracy, i used a rotary tool to remove a shallow thin section of the stock in the areas where the contact was. i also removed and degreased the scope mounting screws and holes she tightened her groups to less than 1 moa! sweet deal for a little over $300.
i may have went a little overboard in improving the looks of my 30-06 it now sports a free-floating. laminated ross thumb hole stock, a set of talley ring mounts carrying an ao, high-powered, mil-dot scope. it forces my reloads to erase a hole in a target with 5 shots that you can cover with a quarter. the factory-installed scope that came with mine now sets atop a sporterized 303 enfield.
go to: http://www.marlinowners.com/forums/index.php. see what many other gun nutz have to say about the quality of this long arm.
i don''t think anyone should be disappointed with the purchase of the marlin xl-7 long action or xs-7 short action. got an xs-7 to pick-up from my gunsmith buddy tomorrow in 7mm-08 rem. they''re affordable with the accuracy and quality that''s more than good enough to cause some riflemen to own many! awe shucks...go spend a several hundred dollars more for a ''classy'' rifle and then come meet me at the range. you''ll see you might have done better with an xl or xs-7!

My son and I were looking for a new hunting rile after my oldest passed his down to my youngest. We were looking for something accurate with a reasonable price. We found the Marlin XL7. He chose the .30-06 chamber for greater stopping power but was still satisfied with the accuracy. It actually out shoots a couple of my higher end .30-06 guns. Needles to say he''s looking forward to it for hunting season.

Very pleased with this gun. I also am so very pleased that the transaction to my local gun dealer went through with no problems whatsoever. I was leary about the whole process, but all went so smooth I was surprised. Thank you Gun Source for a great rifle at a great price!
